Did you know that it is possible for men to breastfeed? Apparantly they have milk glands under their nipples - not as big as ours but they can still be stimulated enough to produce milk. If you google 'father's who breastfeed' there are quite a few articles on the subject, check google images to see pictures of men actually breastfeeding! What do you think? Would you trust them to do it right?!?!?

Breastfeeding rates in the UK are appallingly low with only 20% of babies being breastfed at 12 weeks after birth in recent years - this contrasts starkly with countries like Denmark and Norway, where 98% of babies are breastfed at birth, and 75% are exclusively breastfed for the recommended six months. ...

Hi all, just dropping by to leave a few links and resources about the Nestle boycott by breastfeeding advocates.

From nestlecritics.org:

Nestlé is the target of an international boycott because it aggressively markets baby foods in breach of international standards.

Baby Milk Action campaigns to end the suffering caused by companies that put profits before health.

There is a blog by the campaigns and networking co-ordinator for Baby Milk Action that concentrates on the Nestle boycott ...

There's been a lot of buzz about this on Twitter recently so I thought I'd let everyone know about it, It's something we don't often think about here.

With the terrible earthquake in Haiti, access to fresh water is limited and disease is everywhere. Limited access to electricity and sterilisation equipment means that non-breastfed infants require huge amounts of aid and resources.

In fact, the WHO and UNICEF have both said that donations of artificial baby milk should NOT be sent to Haiti! ...

I went along to the Silkmore drop-in last Friday and met some lovely, helpful ladies. I discussed Mastitis as I was suffering for the fifth time (my little boy is only 10 weeks old!). I was going to go along to the session today (and had bought mince pies to share!!) but found myself at the drs and hospital instead. I am now at home confused and needing advice about breastfeeding.

On Tuesday of this week my antibiotics ...
